Information on the different types of KOI POWER® food:
Apart from the water quality, the condition and consistency of the food is certainly a central point of the Koi housing. After all, we know that, due to breeding selection and housing conditions, our Koi carps grow faster than nature has provided for a wild carp. Moreover, everyone certainly likes to treat his loved ones in a nice way and to spoil them.
Who has not already experimented? For example with spirulina, cod liver, root extract paste, vitamine C, Aloe Vera, clay minerals – just to list a few. The self-accumulated food is stored in the refrigerator over night (in most cases this is a horror for your partner), so that you can feed it the next day. If we take a closer look, however, we will detect that our expensive ingredients are immediately washed away!
Therefore we met a specialised veterinary for Koi carps and a nutritionist in 2001 with whom we developed a food which is based on the latest nutrition scientifical aspects for Koi carps and on the feeding stuff regulation for eating fish. (We use the regulation for eating fish because the regulation for ornamental fish is still not defined clearly. Even food for fattening pigs is allowed.)
The result is that Koi Power is a very high quality Koi food, which is already recommended by leading veterinaries. Why? Simply because:
- it is produced in an optimal grase-protein proportion (ca 1:2.5)
- it contains proteins easy to digest, as it is the case for Premium ( 28% fishmeal, 8% north sea prawns).
- only greases which consist of well digestible marine animal oils and are rich in essential fatty acids and vitamins are used.
- our additives, such as spirulina, yeast extracts, aloe vera, vitamin C, calcium, root extracts etc., are included directly at the production and therefore cannot be washed out any more.
This food is produced in Germany, which causes two significant advantages for us. We can supply our customers on short distances and so guarantee for freshness. Therefore, the food is shrink-wraped into 3 kg bags immediatelly after the production, and is offered for sale in this seize only. Moreover, we can test the quality any time. It is important for us that the food is not polluted with contaminants like phosphates, heavy metals etc.
The open declaration and the expiry date show that we are serious about quality and freshness.

POWER® Krönung
This is a food for Koi carps which is based on the natural food supply. It is produced freshly with a high quality and unique consistency. The aim was to offer nourishment to the Koi that is equivalent to the nourishment base in natural ponds. It was added up with amino acid, which the Koi cannot produce for itself. A further outstanding feature is, that the content of phosphorus was reduced, which causes a lower growth of algae in the pond. Digestion values above average were reached. The lacking nutriments for the Koi carps are added in a natural way. No fish or fish meal was used, because the Koi naturally prefers micro organism and plants.

POWER® Premium floating *
The classic for which the latest scientific cognitions have been realised. It is a carefully prepared mixture out of high quality components and a balanced nutriment combination. It is perfect for the high quality Koi feeding because of an excellent digestibility and because it is hardly water polluting thanks to high quality proteins. Special additives, such as aloe Vera, root extracts, prawns, spirulina and ß-glucans support the resistance, have a positive effect on the alimentary system and are jointly responsible for a stable metabolism.
* at the small lentil size, ca 3 % are sinking and ca 5 % are floating in order to lure the timid Koi carps to the food. As soon as the fish have noticed that they like it, they will continue eating on the surface. (the large lentils are guaranteed to float a 100%)

KOI POWER® Premium sinking (ideal for winter feeding and quarantine)
This is a food particularly rich in energy and very well digestible for those Koi carps which prefer the ingestion on the ground of the pond. Activity means energy use. Even high or low temperature and oxygen fluctuation can only be balanced with additional energy. Therefore you should feed a sinking food to the Koi carps very economically one to three times per week, if the water temperature is low and the fish are still active. In order to accommodate to the reduced metabolism of the Koi carps at low temperatures, the “energy supplier” fat was raised to 18 %. The “growth supplier” was reduced to < 30 %. Another speciality, namely ERGOSAN, was included as an immune strengtheners with extra stabilised vitamins ( tested with excellent results in the aqua culture and for trout’s and carps). It is very well applicable for quarantine facilities.
Information on the feeding:
Not the water temperature is the crucial factor for the feeding time, but the behaviour of the Koi carps!!!
You should only feed the Koi carps when they are actively looking for food. The food should be given to the fish very economically several times a week in the late morning. If the Koi withdraw, you should stop feeding them.
Please consider that also strainer bacteria have their quiet phase and ammonia and nitrite are degraded only slowly.
KOI
POWER® Basis
This is a year-round food which is easy to digest and therefore not stodgy. Due to the balanced nutrient content and the ideal energy density it can be feeded in an economical way. This food is featured by a good price-performance ratio. Also KOI POWER® Basis contains stabilised vitamin C as a standard, spirulina algae, high quality fish meals, marine animal oil (not cheap rape oil) , which is rich in essential amino and fatty acids (Omega-3). The food equally consists of calcium bentonite as of all vitamins conducive to health. However, it is particularly made according to the requires of the Koi carps, so that the result is a stable metabolism and at the same time good health. In combination with the food types Premium or Krönung it is an ideal food basis.

POWER® Fluid ((Spirulina, immune and astaxanthin)
This is a complement food for Koi carps for the valorisation of standard Koi food in different compositions for different applications.
(If you feed high quality fish food with the correct fat-protein ratio, you do not need this one)
The oils we use (marine animal oils, sesame oil*, wheat germ oil*) are of first class quality and rich in unsaturated fatty acids. Among other things, they are essential for the building of cell membranes and have important nutrient psychological features for our fish. The Koi carps especially require high unsaturated fatty acids, such as omega-3 and omega-6, which are sufficiently included in our oils.
The basis mixture can be fed during the whole year, especially during the cold season at a water temperature of 6°C. Fish oil is particularly well digestible and stimulates the metabolism.
